To be in tip top shape and get in range of a Trophy Bull, conditioning your legs better be at the top of your training regimen. I vary the stress applied to my legs in order to be strong for the unpredictable movements while on the hunt. In any sport, all of your power is generated from your legs & the sport of Hunting is no exception. What’s going to get you from Destination “A” to Destination “B” is lower body strength and cardiovascular endurance.
My focus, hit the leg muscles hard by lunging with two 45lb. plates over my head to every machine around the gym. I performed between 12 to 16 lunges ( 6 to 8 on each leg). Why over my head? To keep proper alignment (ears, shoulders, and hips in line) and to apply as much duress on my heart (arms above my head with weights). Also, utilizing full range of motion keeping the front knee directly over the ankle while the other leg touches the ground. Its a 40 minute workout followed up by 10 painful minutes on the Stair Master as fast as I can keep up.
