“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on THE ROCK. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it has its foundation on THE ROCK. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Mathew 7:24-27
I have been wrestling with this verse all week, and I feel compelled to share with you my understandings on it. My hopes by sharing this are that you will stop and contemplate about the foundation in which you are allowing your life to be built. Will your ambitions stand firm when the storms of life come, or will your dreams crumble into the sand?
Jesus speaks about this well-known parable of two house builders. One builder is wise and listens to His instructions and the other is foolish and does not. Outwardly, both houses would appear to be the same. But they are very different. The fundamental difference between them is the foundation on which they were built. Jesus is saying the life we are living is like building a house. It is full of choices to be made, starting first with where to build.
What is this ROCK upon which to build? Paul points out in 1Corinthians 3:11 that this ROCK, this foundation, is Christ. “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Paul instructs, Jesus is the only foundation in which to build upon. If you build your life on Christ, your life will stand safe and sure. As of being built on a ROCK, you will be saved. Likewise, growing roots in Christ will further strengthen your foundation. Being rooted in Christ means you live a life of total dependence on Him as your Lord and Savior, and you are obedient to His teachings. Just as a house rests on a foundation, your life rests on Christ.
Of all the fundamental lessons I teach my clients from nutrition to training, I realize the most valuable lesson I can encourage is to abide in reading the bible and let its instructions feed your soul. Being rooted is an instruction, not a suggestion. Start with the foundation others can’t see, and work from the inside out. One small change a day leads to a life transformed. My desire is to guide your transformation to be of body, mind and spirit. BODY= to build your fundamental strength from your roots up, MIND= to fully understand nutrition, and SPIRIT= to grow so full you desire to disciple others. Be bold in your accomplishments and put them in to practice to help others. Let God’s word be your direction. Abide in Him and you will grow in wisdom and understanding.
H.U.N.T. Strong my friends, may your holy temple stand rooted deep upon THE ROCK. How one starts to build their life today will determine their destiny, not just for this life on earth, but also for eternity.
God Bless!
