Michael, a former collegiate baseball pitcher and athlete, understands what it takes to be dedicated to advancing his physique allowing him to be more efficient and to Hunt Strong. We have already spent hours on the phone establishing how important it is to be physically fit in order to take on the elements the Backwoods presents. What most of the fans of outdoor television don’t see are the elements behind the scenes. What do you mean? There is a lot of work involved in filming hunts such as hauling in camera equipment and mounts, your gun or bow, tree-stands, all of your apparel, etc. Not to mention, some of these hauls could be up to a half mile hike or so and still must be done quietly and scent free. Once reaching the desirable successful destination in high hopes of harvesting a trophy, now you have to get yourself properly prepared by eliminating as many foreseen obstacles. And this all must be done with both the outdoor personality and camera man operating on the same page in the same book. This also calls for extra time; getting up twice as early to have enough time to get set before the sun rises and staying out way past shooting light to unpack. Now, can you see how challenging this could be if you are not fit for the hunt?
Sporting 210 pounds of lean muscle mass, Michael Lee, has the advantage of accelerating his results more than the average man because body fat is burned inside the muscle. His lean mass will also increase at a faster rate due to his muscle memory from previously training in the weight room. His overall body fat percentage at our initial assessment was 26.2 % resulting in 74 pounds of body fat. As Michael follows the Hunt Strong Program, his lean mass will increase and his body fat percentage will decrease, making him one mean, lean, hunting machine. Michael Lee performed 38 push ups and 23 sit ups in a minute, which I predict he will increase by at least 30% on our next assessment.
Mrs. 90%, Beth Lee, performed 39 push ups and 38 full sit ups in each of her one minute tests. Why 90%? Not only did she rank in the 90 th percentile for muscular strength and endurance for her age group, she also ranked at 90% in flexibility too. Women are already at a disadvantage to gain results when compared to men due to the amount of muscle mass. With this being said,Beth has all the tools in her tool belt to progress her results at a much faster rate than the average female. It won’t be long and Beth will be training Hunt Strong! Great Job Beth!
Below is a video of both Michael and Beth Lee as I put their muscular strength and endurance to the test. How? Each will perform as many push ups as possible without stopping, then they must immediately pick up their bow to shoot 3 arrows one after another. The goal is to stay focused, control your breathing, aim small, and release hoping to hit dead center on the Bulls Eye.
The second test Michael and Beth performed only involved one shot! They will each draw back their Elite Bows and hold for a total of 2 minutes. Once they have reached the 2 minute mark, I say release. Purpose? This is reality! If you are a bow hunter, you know exactly what I am talking about. You don’t always have that clean shot available forcing you to stay at full draw in hopes of getting the opportunity at the vitals. What does this take? Isometrically contracting all the muscles involved at full draw with little to no movement. If you don’t have the strength and endurance to do so, you may miss your chance at what could have been a state or world record! Check out how Michael and Beth Performed!
Let’s see how far Michael and Beth will come before their next assessment. Stay tuned as they’ve got one month and counting…
Thank You Michael and Beth for Believing in me!
